Code of Conduct

Condition: Zero Hour's guiding principle of behaviour is: "Fun for Everybody".

The rules in this Code of Conduct encompass the conduct expected of all our attendees, however, they do not supersede any local, provincial or federal laws.

Because Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. is responsible on behalf of Condition: Zero Hour to the hotel for the behaviour of its members, this Code of Conduct applies for the duration of members' time on the hotel premises regardless of whether the convention has officially begun or ended.

To provide a fun, safe and comfortable environment for all convention attendees, each member attending Condition: Zero Hour is bound by the terms and conditions of this Code of Conduct.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

Our host hotel has public spaces in which members of Condition: Zero Hour will be expected to keep civil in their speech, dress and conduct. Members are reminded that families with children might be in these public spaces and should adjust behaviour to match a family setting.

During the convention, there will be adult only content, meaning nineteen or eighteen and above, depending on the content. These events include, but are not limited to, any event where alcohol is served, any event with mature language or themes and any sexual content. These events and/or material, as well as adult content available for sale will be monitored by convention staff to insure the content of these events and/or materials are kept from the viewing public and minors.

Any adult material is to be kept out of public view and should only be brought out at the request of an adult. Adult prints and artwork must be kept separate from other prints and/or artwork and have coverings over male and female genitalia and female nipples.

Individuals below the age of fourteen will require parental and/or guardian supervision at all times in convention space. Individuals between the ages of fourteen and eighteen will require parental and/or guardian consent to attend Condition: Zero Hour. All individuals for the purposes of the convention under the age of nineteen as of August 6th, 2010 are minors. Parents and/or Guardians giving consent must be over the age of majority.

Any members attending Condition: Zero Hour violating the rules set out in this Code of Conduct will be warned only once. A second offence may result in any of the following: a. confiscation of their convention badge without a refund, b. revocation of their membership privileges with no refund for the remainder of the convention or for a time deemed appropriate, c. lifetime ban from all future Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. events.

Violations can include, but are not limited to, wearing unacceptably revealing clothing, openly displaying adult artwork and/or merchandise, overly lewd public displays of affection and any accessories of an inappropriate nature such as diapers outside of clothing and bondage gear. Leashes / Collars may be worn but may not be held by anyone else.

Violations can also include strong odours, offensive to the general public, public slander and any other action that reduces another attendees enjoyment of the convention, such as stalking or violence causing either physical or mental harm.

Shirts, pants, and acceptable footwear must be worn when in areas of the hotel or convention centre that are accessible to non-Condition: Zero Hour attendees, such as lobbies and restaurants. Acceptable footwear is footwear that either has a rubber or non-slip sole and is not any form of sock, including treaded socks. The pool area is excluded from this.

For safety reasons, fursuits are not permitted in the hotel swimming pool or sauna areas.

Sleeping anywhere on hotel property, except in your hotel room, is not permitted. Sleeping in any location other than your room may result in ejection from Condition: Zero Hour. Each offender can have up to three warnings before further action may be taken. Any offenders found sleeping in any location other than a hotel room also agrees to have their photograph taken for reference in these warnings.

Condition: Zero Hour events and function spaces are open only to members, and all attendees should wear their badges, in an easily visible manner, at all times. A badge is valid only for the person to whom it was issued; badges may not be shared under any circumstances. Failure to comply can result in the lost of the shared badge without a refund.

There is no smoking in hotel property, including the guest rooms. Smokers are asked to exit the hotel, if they wish to smoke. Cigarette butts must be disposed of properly and not left on the ground. Please note that municipal and provincial laws outlaw smoking within public areas within buildings, and the hotel is designated as a smoke-free zone. Any smoker caught smoking in contradiction to municipal and provincial laws may have fines and possibly jail time levied against them.

Do not affix anything to the walls of the hotel, to the elevators, to any signage, or to hotel room doors. Door hangers are acceptable. Condition: Zero Hour provides a message board in a public area where members may post messages or place announcements. Anyone caught violating this rule will be responsible for any cost incurred. Furthermore, if any damage is incurred in any room within the hotel, it is the responsibility of the attendees' that have their name on the hotel to pay for those damages.

The offering for sale of any merchandise at the convention may be undertaken only in the authorized selling locations by authorized sellers; in all cases the sale will be governed by the rules applicable to those areas. It is forbidden to sell any other merchandise or services in any other areas.

At peak times when the elevator traffic becomes too congested, it may be necessary for Convention Security to handle traffic flow. Attendees are requested to form orderly lines and wait for an elevator as instructed. The following are permitted to move to the head of the line without question (in order of priority): 1. Non-convention attendees (including deliveries) 2. Those with impaired mobility 3. Fursuiters (with ONE handler)

No other exceptions will be made.

While the hotel does allow service animals within hotel sleep rooms, at their discretion, Condition: Zero Hour only allows service animals and convention staff will require proof that the animal is licensed by a government or government sponsored organization. The paper for service animals should be presented when an attendee presents themselves at registration.

MINORS AT Condition: Zero Hour

Anyone who is under the age of 18 years at any time during the convention must present a signed and notarized parental permission form unless accompanied by a parent or able to produce evidence of legal emancipation. There are no exceptions.

Minors are not permitted under any circumstances to enter areas that have been designated for mature audiences.

Anyone providing false documentation of identity or age will be denied membership and reported to the police.

Minors under the age of 14 must be under parent or guardian supervision at all times in convention spaces.

CONVENTION SECURITY

Convention security volunteers enforce our Code of Conduct. Convention Security will be identified by a convention specific uniform and a red border on their badge.

On first offence, violators will be warned only once. A second offence may result in any of the following: a. confiscation of their convention badge without a refund, b. revocation of their membership privileges with no refund for the remainder of the convention or for a time deemed appropriate, c. lifetime ban from all future Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. events.

In extreme cases, at the discretion of security, any warnings may be bypassed for violators of this Code of Conduct.

Convention badges are the property of Condition: Zero Hour for the duration of the convention and must be presented and/or surrendered to any Condition: Zero Hour staff member upon request. If you have a complaint about any action taken by a staff member, you may take the matter up with the Convention Chairman. While every attempt at reasonable complaint resolution will be made, behaviour that threatens the well being of our members will not be tolerated.

Should an Acrylic convention badge need to be revoked, it will be shipped to the place of residence on file for that badge after the convention.

CONTROLLED & ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES

Condition: Zero Hour is not a dry convention, however, only drinks purchased within the convention space will be allowed in that space. In addition, any drinks purchased within the convention space must stay and be consumed in the convention space. Convention members observed to be visibly intoxicated in public convention space will be asked to return to their hotel room.

Condition: Zero Hour has a zero tolerance policy towards illegal substances. Any convention member found to be using, selling or otherwise distributing any controlled substance will have their membership immediately revoked, and will be immediately reported to the local police.

Anyone knowingly or unknowingly providing alcohol to anyone under the age of nineteen will be turned over to the authorities. It is the sole responsibility of persons serving alcohol in room parties to ensure that every person consuming alcohol is over the age of nineteen.

WEAPONS & REPLICAS

No functioning or realistic appearing firearm may be carried or displayed in convention space at any time. If the weapon can fire any projectile or cause annoyance to others, it is not allowed. Any such firearm will be confiscated for the extent of the con Severe violations where bodily harm was caused may result in the weapon being given to the authorities.

Edged weapons may be worn as a costume accessory only if they are covered by a sheath that covers all sharp edges and points. The weapon must also be secured from removal by a cord or tie (often referred to as ‘peace bonding'). Temporary exceptions may be made for newly purchased weapons carried DIRECTLY to one's room or out of the hotel.

Knives used for a utility purpose are exempt. Only Utility knives IE box cutters and ONLY in areas where these knives are appropriate, Security can confiscate these if they feel you intend to use them for any malicious purposes. POCKET KNIVES WITH NO UTILITY FUNCTIONS (ie not "swiss army/leatherman") EITHER SINGLE OR MULTI BLADED ARE NOT TO BE BROUGHT OUT EVER.

Brandishing any weapon for any reason is not allowed, and will result in the confiscation of the weapon for the duration of the convention, a warning from security and may result in ejection from the convention. Repeated warnings will result in revocation of membership.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO FILMING

Photography and video filming by convention members for personal use is generally allowed in all common areas of Condition: Zero Hour. Please note that there is no photography or filming allowed in the authorized selling location of materials for sale. Show courtesy when photographing or filming individuals or costumes and ask permission first. If an individual does not wish to be photographed or filmed, please respect their wishes. Any complaints received by security will be taken seriously and any offenders may have their badge revoked at the discretion of security.

Photography, filming, or taping for the purpose of sale, publication, public media, or dissemination is expressly prohibited without written authorization from Condition: Zero Hour. All pictures, film, and tape shall be for personal use only.

All journalists, media photographers, and any other members of the press are required to display an official Condition: Zero Hour Press Badge and be accompanied by a member of Condition: Zero Hour staff at all times while in the convention space. Members of the press who have not been issued a Press Badge may not conduct interviews or take photographs, audio or video footage and may be subject to ejection from convention space without refund of any registration fees paid. Media representatives who do not have Press Badges and are not escorted by Condition: Zero Hour staff member should be reported to Convention Security staff or to Convention Operations immediately.

The name "Condition: Zero Hour" is the property of Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc., and must not be used in any fashion that disparages or dilutes that property. Members agree to remove from circulation or publication any image or recording that in the sole opinion of Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. misrepresents or defames its property.

REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP

Condition: Zero Hour prides itself in welcoming furry fans from all walks of life, but we acknowledge that we also have a responsibility to help ensure the safety of all congoers. Thus: Any member who is deemed by the chairman of Condition: Zero Hour (or the Board of Directors for Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc.) to have seriously violated these Rules of Conduct may have their membership suspended for the duration of the convention.

Additionally, that individual is automatically prohibited from registering for the next year's convention as well as any subsequent events sponsored by Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. until such time as their attendance is approved by the Board of Directors of Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc.

A suspended member may appeal their suspension in writing, and only in writing, to the Board of Directors at Unit 209, 756 Kipps Lane, London, Ontario, N5Y 4X9 before the next convention. The Board of Directors reserves the final authority to grant or deny membership.

If a member is prohibited by the hotel management from its premises for any reason, Condition: Zero Hour has no choice but to revoke current membership and deny future membership for the duration of the hotel ban.

Condition: Zero Hour reserves the right to change, amend, or modify these rules at any time without prior notice.
